I'd buy it for half price, you can't really get GTA for free and enjoy the game to its fullest potential, you have to battle to get online since the free copy would most likely be pirated, some mods don't work on pirated games because the game isn't kept up to date. I'd say buy it because the game is definitely worth it for PC.

Is the community still alive? Idk if its worth it tho cuz i heare online has lots of hackers and i got no one to play with lol

The community is very much alive, i played about a week ago online with my friends in the 32 person lobby, they have added a ton of things if you have played other versions of GTA: V, i haven't ran into many hackers I've seen a few obvious hackers, but that's about it. R* is usually pretty good about that.
