GCHQ tries to track everyone the internet #1

TL;DR: GCHQ has a survey and tracking operation called "Karma Police" that aims to track everyone on the internet trough sites like Google, Yahoo, Pornhub, Skype calls and messges, e-mails and much more.

At this point, we just cannot assume that anything is safe. There is a reason that I use a VPN at all times. You have to know that someone is trying to track your activity at all times. The fact that national government allow this kind of treacherous betrayal of citizens' rights in this century is just disgusting. I cannot believe that even after the revelations of Edward Snowden the national hero, no country or prominent political figure has stepped up to defend the public on this issue.

Dont forget the NSA who gives them the tools for this type of work.

Also you shouldnt rely on a VPN so much. Yes a VPN does work, but if your using a shitty free one you might as well not use one at all. A paid VPN that does not log is best and accepts bitcoin payment.

VPN is a last resort in terms. look at it this way,
your probably using a windows laptop, probably has back doors in it already, you probably have entered in personal info somewhere at some point weather it be a game, banking ect. if any part of your real life is on your PC you have probably been track/logged ect already.

VPN encrypts your traffic and spoofs your location. But is your network leaking your ISP data? use ipleak.org to find out. are your dns leaking? if you run ipleak.org and you see your ISP data or your location at all your VPN sucks.

What i would do to help slow down the NSA and GCHQ, and the reason i say slow down is because you cant stop them. I would suggest Completely wipe out your PC. Install your VPN, Set up a good firewall remove any programs that you dont need. Use something to change your MAC address. I have my router running my VPN so everything that connects to my house is on a VPN, then with my mobile devices i log into a completely serperate and different VPN. Slows down my traffic but its safe. Its like a sea of encrypted traffic. I also do not do any of my computer research ect on my home network. I have a PC that has never been on my house wifi. Mac address changes every time i boot up. Its fully encrypted and can be wiped in a matter of seconds or with the wrong password to many times. MY password is 18 characters that i some how remember.

My friends think i go over board becuase they dont understand this but, Id rather be safe then sorry. Computer security is not as simple as it seems. Sure theres simple processs to help but a more technicall look into it is a lot better.
This is one reason i only use linux. its not more secure out of the box, but your allowed to set up more security parameters. Firewall ip tables, open vpn, mac address changers, proxy.

PGP for email. We need everyone to start using PGP for emails so they cant be intercepted and decrypted.

internet security and privacy i try to push. Its something that means a lot to me.

You sir give too much credit to the National security agencies, they couldn't care less what you are doing they most likley have not looked into any bit of information they have gathered from you. You are just a small fish in a big ocean my friend.

Your part of the problem where you think, if im not doing anything wrong, then no need to hide. That is a BS way to think of things. I have worked on projects with other people that have leaked real info on NSA and more. I am an online activist and hacktivist. I do not have to prove my self to anyone either. All i can do is help provide the info to help other people try to stay on top of security and privacy.

Yeah, for very important things I use exclusively Tor. As for the VPN, I use a paid one which accepts Bitcoin, has DNS leak protection, and keeps no logs whatsoever. Even then however, some VPN providers could easily be piping data to the NSA or other government organizations. Using a VPN based outside the US could help, but you are still entrusting your data to a 3rd party. That's why you should always pay with Bitcoin, and use Tor for truly sensitive matters. Even then some government agencies could be running exit nodes so you never know if they will try and go after you.

Also, yes you should always use PGP for any emails you send, you never know which piece of information will be traced back to you. After Lavabit and other email providers being shut down, we can only assume the remaining ones are in league with government agencies.

I personally do not use tor. Some nodes have been compromised. Sure your entrusting your data to a third party. Thats why you do tons of research on them. But thats also why you use proxies and other ways to protect your self.
like I said before, I do not use my own WIFI for my "work" computer. That computer has never had any of my real information ever typed in it. Never visited a personal email account or anything. Literally I log on, do some work and power it off. I use neighboors wifi, starbucks ect for WIFI.

That is very true. Also, sometimes, your aliases can be traced back to you, or connected together if your VPN provides you with a static IP address. That is why I prefer VPNs which give you a new IP address each time you connect. That being said, you should always use different aliases on every site you sign up for if you are doing anything very sensitive.

You should be doing all of this anyway reguardless of what your doing or working on.
