Free or Paid hosting? 06-01-2015, 03:12 PM

Which one do you prefer? Free or Paid hosting? I would prefer free hosting, for a relatively small website and/or forum and paid hosting for a considerable website/forum.

It depends. Reality Forum currently uses Paid Hosting. Free hosting isn't that bad, however I don't mind paying.

I'd go with a vps, but that's just me. DigitalOcean would be an easy pick for anyone.

Free hosting comes with annoying ads, slow support, and usually you're put on a smaller server. The only thing I can see free hosting being good for is if you're going to host 2 - 5 page sites that might have information about yourself on it - such as a portfolio.
Paid hosting provides much much more in the long run.

Paid by far. I would never do free hosting. Many hosting options are cheap to start and if you grow you can easily upgrade to handle more and what not.
