Well, it's that time of year again. Four years ago, 13-year-old me sat on my shitty laptop and discovered tech forums and programming.

A lot has changed: I went from writing batch scripts on Windows to writing my own OS on a fully custom installation of Arch in a matter of 3 or 4 laptops. I'm not going to do a long-winded post this year, but if an idiot like me can make that big of a change, it proves that anyone can.

I've made a lot of friends and connections here over the last few years, and I hope to keep that going over the next several.

Ah, the days of BATCH scripting
I had a whole text-based RPG going. Before that was a bunch or boring JS on Codeacademy.

Then I moved to Ubuntu and died from error messages, kernel panics, and suspicious start jobs that made my shitty laptop take even longer to boot.

Later, I tried to make an Ubuntu based OS, then I moved to Debian for it, then my laptop broke and I gave up. After hopping around for a while, I settled on OpenSUSE after trying a bunch of Arch based ones. Eventually the lack of software support got me to move to Antergos.
During all of this, my language of choice was either BASH or Python.

Later, I started using Java, then I decided to make an OS and started using Intel ASM (starting with real mode). Eventually I ended up with C, and am still not settled on a language.

I found SL about a year ago while looking for a hacking forum because they all sucked. (I was 14) I found this, and have mostly moved away from pentesting to programming. SL was the first internet community that I was actually part of, and is still the only one I have ever been.

I have no idea what made me write all that with a tiny phone keyboard...

EDIT: I thought this was a post on a different thread. (note me quoting OP thinking it's a regular post instead of a thread) Appareantly it's your thread and I'm just confused.
It's great to have you around

Hey Inori! I'm so happy that you get to celebrate 4 years the day after Christmas! I went from literally acting like some l33t h@x0r booting up from tails and all to actually getting around my schools security on out laptops, and RATTING people. Also, went from knowing zero coding, to making my first HTML page that the links were going in a diagonal direction I don't even know how it had happened, but it did. then to making good looking websites, and learning Python3 and all! So, I agree with you, if an idiot like me can do it, so can anyone else.

You've certainly progressed In 4 years of computing. I still remember my days of the good old16 Bit Windows 3.1, and that was around 23 years ago.

It's been an absolute pleasure Interacting with you around the forums, and I'm sure there'll be many more years of the same.

Congra bro, I'm glad seeing you around the forum as a growing for me growing at English and Java were best steps I had made.
I still have mistakes but while going back to my old posts I can say "I achieved it". Smile
