So yesterday I was supposed to get on my flight with my dad, my uncle, and 13 other family members on a trip to Dubai to celebrate the New Year. Every year me and my family take a vacation on Thanksgiving and a couple days after Christmas. Usually on Thanksgiving we take our traditional cruise and on New Years we're traveling to another country by flight. 

This year things went a little bit out of hand.

Sitting down to supper we had pretty much decided that the trip would be very tough in Dubai for some of the older family members in our group. I don't know how many of you have been to Dubai but if you have, you know how much fun it can be there and how much energy there is. I'm already coming down with a bit of a cold myself and for some reason we all felt uncomfortable about making the trip. Out of respect we decided to drop our bags, finish supper, and talk the next day on what we can do to celebrate the New Years without leaving the country. Well... we're doing absolutely nothing. We've decided that in May (around my birthday) we would take a roadtrip across America all the way from Florida to California. 

Oh, and I don't even want to say how much money we lost. We just bought 16 tickets to Dubai and said screw it. :/ 

Anyways I'll just be here on RF. Like I said I've got a bit of a cold and a cough so I'm nursing myself - somewhat. Quite depressing we're breaking our family tradition of traveling for the New Years but I know it will be made up for.

Dubai is a lot of fun I wanted to go back and skydive pretty bad. Will just save that trip for one of these years.

Sorry to hear about your flight/ tradition being cancelled this year, there's always something else that can fill that need if you need it. Happy New Year never the less though.

I live there for studying and it's a great place. Too bad you've missed it but I hope you will enjoy your next trip.

If you didn't knew, there was a building on fire right when the New Year countdown was about to start. Might wanna look it up.

Yeah I saw the fire! I found that to be insane.

That's dreadful that you couldn't celebrate in Dubai. Nonetheless, I do hope you enjoy your trip when the time comes. However, I hope it is still worth it to have a New Years where you live currently. As long as it's with your family, no place matters. So I hope to use enjoy your new years and use some of the suggestions other members have said in one of my threads:
