What are your favorite knives that you own for outdoors/bushcraft use or even EDC. My favorite knives are on the budget side under $50 but are still very good, and high quality that I would trust with my life. You do not need to spend $150 to $300 for a high quality knife you can still find them at cheap prices in my opinion if it is not hand forged then it should not be over $70.

My favorite knives are

Condor Kephart 1075 HC Steel 4.5" blade, $40
Schrade SCHF36 1095 HC Steel 5" blade $34 (bigger size of the same style available SCHF37)

When it comes to budget you cannot go wrong with Condor, Schrade or even Mora but I prefer my knives full tang so Morakniv is not something I carry even though they are stout knives and can take abuse.

All of which makes it impossibly useful. Want a laser flashlight? No problem. Torch? Can do. Universal Wrench? Yup. Golf divot repair tool? Si. Double-cut wood saw? Uh-huh. And so it goes. On and on and on and on. There's almost no indoor our outdoor emergency which could not be tackled with this comprehensive if somewhat unwieldy device.

Schrade does not sell stilettos but they actually sell some decent OTF (Out the front) spring assisted knives which are pretty cool but carrying them as well as stilettos in the USA are illegal which I find to be completely stupid.

Its actually getting harder and harder to find good stilettos rather then Chinese mass-produced ones.

I wouldn't completely agree about your budget argument. No, knives don't have to cost a fortune to be good. What I find, though, with my ESEE, is that it is more sturdy than any bowie I've ever used, and it hasn't failed me for many years.

And the chances of breaking a properly heat treated and tempered hunk of quarter inch 1095 steel is slim unless you get a bad one in the bunch or you royally beat the crap out of it way beyond what a knife should be used for. So I trust my Schrade very much and if I had the ESEE I have no doubts in that knife as well and I would completely trust it too.

And you say you got the S&W HLS Tanto which I personally never had my hands on but anyways it is made by the same company as Schrade which is Taylor Brands. But I honestly didn't think they cared too much about the S&W side but maybe I am wrong all I know is Schrade is becoming there #1 seller especially from there 2015 releases.

That is true, and budget alternatives may be the only option.

I haven't much experience with Schrade, to be honest, but I'm sure they're just as good as they sound, and I should perhaps consider investing in one
