FPGA learning sources? 02-06-2017, 01:56 PM

So I encounter articles about open-source FPGA designs for homebrew laptops and special hardware, and found this today: https://github.com/mntmn/amiga2000-gfxcard
This is really motivating, although I like to solder custom shit at home I only have basic knowledge about FPGAs.
Can anyone recommend a well-known writer about verilog and FPGA technologies, or a book that's not full of trivia but actual industry-ready high-level stuff?
