Protein is essential. Anyone who "trains" without ingesting or eating foods high in protein after is going to lose weight, sure, but nothing more to muscles will happen without protein.

Now to be clear protein counts as any protein from natural foods to isolates such as what we all buy at GNC, Vitamin Store, etc.

After my bodybuilding supersets + routines (bi-daily) I usually take in 300g-350g of protein per day, 5 meals, due to the amount of mass and muscle I'm choosing to gain.

Again, in order for muscles to grow, protein is needed, no matter what.

That's a lot of protein and yes, protein is very essential. You can still lose weight when ingesting protein.

You can have very minimal amounts of protein in your diet and still put on weight. It comes back to the intake/outtake ratio. Let's look at Hannibal for King, for example. The guy trains up to three times a day for up to three hours a session (max 9 hours a day). He says he eats whatever he wants, whenever he wants (but will force himself to work harder after a pizza).

My point is, myofibrillar hypertrophy can occur with very minimal protein intake. As you get stronger (by lifting more/heavier), your muscles get bigger. Plain and simple. Yes, for you to see any real muscle gains through the myofibrillar approach, you're going to be ten times as strong as anyone else your size.

When we look at the typical approach to muscle building (less work but more carbs/protein), you end up with less dense muscles resulting from sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. For this, you need to focus more on eating for sure. Smile
