Exam discussion #1
Just finished my midterm exams. I'm a senior in highschool so they're not too serious, but they're also 10% of your final grade (20% if it's a half year course), and failing can hurt. Pretty sure I just failed my Calculus midterm, but from what I heard from my peers, nobody else knew what they were doing either, so a curve is possible. Plus, I have the day off tomorrow; a welcome accommodation for 6 2-hour-long tests.

What is your opinion of exams like these? What has been your worst test you've taken?

To answer my own question, I don't mind them because the day is a bit shorter, but it's definitely draining and stressful. The worst one I've taken so far has been my pre-calculus final exam (I don't have an amazing math record lol), as the amount of shit that was packed into that test was something I didn't really want to handle, and I failed. But passed the class!

I had to do a project about culture and art, but my group did everything for me because I was sick, and I paid someone to do the 10-15 page essay. I don't really think tests are pointless, but they do not have that big of an impact on the students education.

Are you in highschool or college?
We have stuff to do, but the only really challenging thing you'll get are midterms/finals, or a class like AP (college level) History/Biology/Physics. I've got enough work with AP English Literature as it is, along with work and a relationship, so I don't really have time to do labs or 10 page packets every week.

@ The tests thing, I agree. Most classes you can just skate by with by bsing the homework and projects and not learn a thing, while tests kinda force you to know what you're doing if you don't want to re-take the course.

Same, they seem to know the struggle of being part time student and part time human xD

At University level I don't do exams any more, but back in school I would say my worst was probably English Literature at A Level. I used to get A* and A in my classes but at A Level they removed the parts of the course that I used to enjoy about English. I didn't fail but I got a C.

Today was my last day of midterms as well. I fucked up my geometry midterm big time, never understood that shit. Everything else I feel pretty confident on. Though midterms are honestly the least of my worries, I'm pretty lazy and I didn't do a ton of course work. So yeah, fuck.

That's a shame - I'm currently in a University level Literature course at my highschool, and we have a great teacher. Without her, the class would be borderline nap time, but she slips in fun stuff along with the strict curriculum, and motivates us to try our best. To me, the teacher is half the battle!

Math midterms have always fucked me pretty hard, as I pretty much never study for anything, and if there is one course you pretty much need to study for, it's math. It's no big deal if I failed the midterm though as I have a 90 average in the class due to stupidly easy homework/quiz grades

The problem for me is I am lazy all around. I have zeroes trickling in all over the place from things I simply did not do, or forgot to. I'm coming back next quarter though, going to really dial back on work and focus on education.

I have done 2/5 of my exams and I'm pretty much dead.
