That's great. CNET should help get everything some pretty good exposure. Biggrin

I downloaded this from the cnet link and this is what I got when I ran it.

Component 'COMCTL32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

What is the fix?

RE: EXEscanner 1.0 [HC Official Tool] #13
Type in that missing .OCX file in to Google and download it and register it.
Here, I put up a good and ungodly simple tutorial on this without using the prompt.

Actually I updated the attachment after adding the OCX, but looks like it's messed up. Added a fixed link in the first post.
Registering the OCX/DLL allows apps in the whole system to be able to use it, but an app needing it will still work even if you just have it in the app's directory.

Yes like I said, the app requiring OCX/dll will work even if you have them in the app's directory.

I had a great idea come to mind. Why not make it where this runs silently, and whenever a program tries to add itself to startup, it alerts you and you can decide whether or not it is trustworthy. Also make it where it detects any suspicious outbound connections and stops it until you confirm. That would be revolutionary.

That's what Defense+ of Comodo Firewall does. :p But Connection-blocking is very annoying in Comodo and people tend to disable it, since it asks you everytime any app tries to do anything.
The startup part is covered in my upcoming StartupControl app made in VB.Net.

I'll see if I can port it to VB6 and scan startup stealthly for the next version. Thanks.
