Does math help with coding #1
So, generally, which is more helpful when learning coding, english skills or math skills.

I though of learning a bit of coding, might turn out to be useful.

Well i'm horrible at all of those, but it seems like math would help out, depending on what you're working on.

Both.

You need math to understand the more complex things(encryption, algorithims, etc) which you need to know if you want to make money.

You need English to clearly communicate what your program does, ascertain the client's needs, and document your code.

That is why (In my school), you must already took a certain math course in order to be able to take a level of the coding class.

Hey!
From my experience, understanding complex math like Log isn't necessary.
However, a general understanding of it can make Coding a whole lot easier.

It also depends on what you are creating.

You don't need anything beyond a HS education in both. If you do come across something that needs a college math skill, as a coder you should be able to comprehend reading a TUT online.

I'd study math at least until you got to Hyperreal numbers and Surreal numbers. Then you will never have a problem in that regard.
A bit of string theory too won't hurt.

EDIT: And a bit of multi-dimensional trigonometry would be extremely useful.

You can learn coding with basic Maths and English too, but for advanced coding projects you'll need advanced Maths knowledge and English also will be helpful especially if you work in a team. I recommend learning both.
