I had a feeling it was more complicated than that, but wanted to be sure :p. I noticed a few other people asking for invites, so I figured that would help any others who come along the way.

It just so happens to be a common occurrence for me since being banned is as well.

This here sums It all up.

Due to their non-compliance, not only do non-Sinisterly members generate unneeded workload for staff, but the quality of Discord as a whole Is also affected. Anyone In search for a hack and/or technology forum, will eventually find this board. You not need Discord as a gateway. The point Is, If they spam on Discord, It's safe to assume they'll do the very same here.

RE: Discord purge #23
Purge: I would be in agreement with doing a purge, for sure!

Non SL-members: Although, I still vote no to preventing non-SL members joining. Yes, we will get more trolls, but we have to remember, the discord is just a place to chat off-site. Back in the day when we used Skype, it was like the gutter of SL, as it was supposed to be. It allowed people to do stupid stuff (within reason) that they wouldn't normally be able to do on the site. While the current discord channels function differently than the old Skype did, it's still very informal. I actually only joined SL because of the old Skype chat.

Usernames not matching: Many people may not realise it's a rule. As part of the purge process, we could either message them and warn them, or have Oni change it manually to match the site.

Staff workload: I like the suggestion of having chat specific mods to do that if workload really is a problem. However, at the end of the day, that is just part of being staff. It's a voluntary position, and if it's too much to keep up with - contact me.

Oh herp Jiggly... Although, once more announcements come out, it will get lost/missed, and people may join after the announcement was made and may not see it. Might need to be something sent out once a month or at some sort frequency in the announcements. Simple solution, thank you.

Monthly could work but I doubt oni could keep that up.

He can just create a sticky on the discord thread, or the introductions idk.

EDIT: Add to the rules page?

I'm working on a bot as we speak to automate some of the repetitive stuff, so occasional reminders could definitely be implemented.
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

RE: Discord purge #29
I think people misunderstood, but it's perfectly okay for someone to join our Discord and not the forum. Many excellent members (including @"Boudica") have found us through our Skype or Discord chats, and they probably wouldn't have unless we allowed guests. Members should obviously influence guests to join, but guests aren't required to register.

I'm against the idea of purging people, as sometimes people come back. We used to regularly purge the forum, but members returned and complained their account was no longer there. We might need to enforce nicknames, for the members that are on both the forum and Discord, though. Guests should also receive less leeway, in terms of rulebreaking.

We have Super Moderators, Moderators, and Chat Moderators there to clean up the mess. If they're complaining about the job, maybe they're not up for it. We can always add more.

I'd only purge members that have a negative impact. I might purge some bots, though.

Spoiler:
We're currently going for Discord partnership, and the fact we have 650+ members goes in our favor.

This. It's why we publicly advertise our discord on server lists.

Exactly.

Oh, I was under the impression we would purge rulebreakers and bots, since I was against purging guests.
It's a good idea to be stricter on guests.
