This is definitely a necessary move. China has proven itself to be a radical state that will do anything for more power and control. Every nation needs to be proactive and aware of that threat. So now I'm wondering what Biden's approach on China will be. So far Trump has been tough on China, but not tough enough. Since he has many ties to China, I'll just assume he'll be lax until proven otherwise.
