Yeah. It was an accumulation of issues. He moved out early expecting not to pay because of that (somebody doesn't know how to read a simple contract). He also lied about his identity and disappeared. The landlord wanted to take him to court for the 2,100 GBP he owed but couldn't even track the guy down. The information he gave to the university was also false. REALLY DODGY GUY. xD

Evidently, he had malicious Intent right from the get-go.  Given his credentials were falsified, It seems his plans were very clear and It's unfortunate you were part of the equation (trying to obtain funds owing). As per the cliche: "What goes around comes around". He'll get his back tenfold.
