DLC - Worth it? 02-14-2013, 05:24 AM

What do you think of DLC in general? Do you find that it's usually worth it? Would you rather wait and get a game that has the DLC already included as a bonus?

It's worth it sometimes, but I find it kind of annoying that companies have basically started to make DLC as another way to make money. I mean, a lot of companies now already know they're going to have this and this as a DLC before they even release the game, which is lame because you're supposed to be getting a complete game.
I'd rather wait and get the game as a bonus, but if it's a game you play online with your friends, normally you need it upon release or your friends will be gone to another game by the time you can get free bonus DLC.

I don't like having to buy DLC all the time because I never really had the money but if you can afford buying the DLC by all means buy it. I just wish games like Halo weren't so anal about you buying it, I hated that I needed to buy the DLC to play Halo 3.

Some DLC is worth it such as Call of Duty one, but then theres some that really aren't ever worth the money, there is a 99c DLC on dead island that gives you a weapon that hardly lasts and is pretty much pointless 1 hour through the game and don't deserve to be DLC. So in the end its only worth it if there is a lot of content in it and it seems fun. You're better off looking it up before buying it.

Some is yes, some no. It really depends. If it's a new story element or multi player element then usually it is. Anything else is pretty hit and miss in my opinion.

I don't buy much DLC and so far there hasn't been many that I've thought was worth it. I did buy some DLC for Borderlands but I can't really remember getting it for anything else. I like to wait and get a game once all the DLC is included as a bonus.

It depends on what the DLC offers, what game it's for, and the price of it. Some DLCs (CoD DLC, for example) is overpriced. Each DLC is $15 and there's about 4 DLCs that are released for each Call of Duty game, which means that if you buy every single one you'll be spending $60, which is the price of a game. Some DLCs are good though, as they're reasonably priced and can add quite a lot to a game.
It really depends, as I said earlier. Some companies are using DLC as an excuse to release day 1 DLC that could've been included in the game though, which I don't think is right.

I think some dlcs are worth getting. They're really exciting to play once you download them. It really depends on the game you like and how often you play it. Price wise, it depends on how big the content is and how many hours it is. I wouldn't buy a dlc for a game if it is just one mission and nothing else.
