Well at this rate of rapid growth within the games industry, especially within online stores such as the Google Play Store and so on, and how basic some of the games are, I honestly wouldn't really believe that it is quite possible that consoles will die as a concept.
My belief however is that consoles will always remain, if not purely for aesthetic purposes, The idea behind console games is that the whole experience it creates is more an atmospheric thing than anything else, it is a way for people to unwind and play games on the big screen and so on, however judging how technology is actually progressing, this is wholly a relaxing and completely relaxing exercise, in which I honestly don't believe that anyone will ever want to leave, especially with how the games and so on are progressing also, with the birth of new graphics engines and new technology that support more powerful and more detailed graphic templates etc.
All the same it could be a possibility, that these devices could become redundant, as perhaps maybe a total immersion device for playing games could come out.
On a final note I will say this, I am looking forward to the future and whatever technology as regards to gaming and games that it will bring.
