Do you have access to other pc? I had problems with UNetBootin before. Try using other program for it, like Win32DiskImager, or the dd command on Unix-like systems:
Code:
sudo dd if=/path/to.iso of=/dev/sdb

You should also check in your BIOS if it allows you to boot from the usb.

I do, but i'd really like to get it on my mac computer. I dont want to wait until I get a new hard drive because it seems like it's the only way to fix the problem(I dont know, seeing as how I SHOULD be able to boot from a USB. I could try burning the .iso to a DVD and see if that works, but my hopes arent really high)

And no, this was the only computer running linux, and I used the dd command to try arch and other distro's while I had linux.
