Companies hit with ransomware #1
Companies all around the world are reporting being hit by ransomware including an airport, banks, hospitals, and Chernobyl radiation detection systems. Kaspersky Lab (A Russian cyber-security firm) said that there were approximately 2000 attacks, most in Ukraine, Russia and Poland. The ransomware was dubbed "NotPetya" due to Kaspersky Lab saying it's a new type of ransomware, even though it highly resembles Petya. Similarly to WannaCry, the malware is backed by EternalBlue, an NSA exploit targeting Windows. Microsoft released a patch which prevented EternalBlue hacks for even Windows XP. No Windows computers should have been infected, but some business's decided not to update for god knows what reason.

Former NSA analyst and cybersecurity entrepreneur David Kennedy was quoted saying "This is going to be a big one. Real big one" because this malware may be worse than WannaCry. It has other tools under it's belt that WannaCry didn't, including as Kennedy explained, extracting passwords from memory or from the local filesystem to move to other systems.
