China Gorges on American Beef #1
China really wants their American meat, as Australia has suddenly stopped exporting its beef to China.

Quote:As Australian beef exports to China wither amid diplomatic tensions, demand there for U.S. grain-fed beef has soared, fuelled by the appetites of a growing Chinese middle class.

Hotpot restaurants, Japanese barbecue chains and steakhouses, all expanding in the world's No. 2 economy, are swapping out Australian beef for U.S. meat. Several Australian suppliers were banned last year and shipments from others take too long to clear customs.

Beef imports from the U.S. have grown to 83,000 tonnes in the first eight months of 2021, nine times the amount in the same period a year ago, according to Chinese customs data, and are set to be worth more than $1 billion this year. Australia also fell behind the United States this year as the top exporter of grain-fed beef to China.

"They don't have a lot of other options when it comes to the well-marbled, grain-fed product," said Joe Schuele, spokesman at the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF). "That's the product that really stands out in China."

Why were the Australian companies banned? Will this happen to US exporters too?

I believe It was a breach In compliance, and failing to meet specification standards to whom they're shipping their goods.

Oh thank you. I mean, arguably that's a fair ban. There's a reason the UK and US are at odds over their meat deals right now.

Yes, this steak is really delicious, especially if you marinate it for more than 8 hours in a spicy marinade with beer. It turns out the most tender meat with an awesome taste and smell. The main rule is to choose a good fresh piece of meat before that, if you don't know how to choose, [link redacted] in various blogs. Chefs often write articles about it.

It's American of course. Just kidding, but American factory farmed meat isn't that great. If you can buy your meat from a local farmer it's always better.

I suppose that's true of most places. Hard to beat decent local meat!
