I hadn't heard of this award until today, but upon reading more, I'm not surprised who they gave it to: Sir David Attenborough.
For those of you unfamiliar, if you've ever watched a nature documentary and heard an elderly British man narrating, it was probably this guy.
The UN has a prestigious award designed to recognise environmental leaders worldwide. Sir Attenborough has been awarded Champion of the Earth this year for his documentaries/broadcasts about nature to the world. Whether you like climate change topics or not, this 95 year old man is brilliant at what he does. He is only the fifth person to earn this award. He also has a British Research Vessel name after him (home to a remote control submersible named Boaty McBoatface).
