This thread is full of questions and answers which hopefully can help you with your journey. What is the Capital system?
I don't think I can start this thread without actually explaining what the Capital system is.

Firstly, Capital is the name of a virtual currency used at Discussion Zone. You may have seen other systems alike with other currency names, for example, Credits seems to be the most popular at the moment. Don't let this word fool you.

Overall, Capital is Discussion Zone's points system. You earn points (Capital) by carrying out various tasks such as posting new threads, new posts, gaining a referral, winning the lottery and finally, investing in the stock market to gain profits. I won't get too much into this as it'll be explained further down the thread.

The points system plugin is in actual fact named NewPoints developed by Pirata Nervo of http://forums.mybb-plugins.com. NewPoints is a free and available plugin to all MyBB owners.

Why does Discussion Zone have the Capital system?
Reasons why Blue has decided to implement this feature.

It's fun, something different and it rewards users for posting and referring users.

How can I earn Capital?
This section mildly explains the different techniques used to earn Capital.

If you have just started off on Discussion Zone, the possibility your Capital balance is 0. If so, I advise you make a bunch of threads and posts or even refer your friends to boost your balance.

Creating 1 post will earn you 1 Capital.
Creating 1 thread will earn you 2 Capital.
Referring 1 user to Discussion Zone will earn you 10 Capital.
Winning our weekly lottery will earn you 250 Capital (rare chance).

Once you have a reasonable balance, for example, 100 Capital, you can then move on to the Virtual Stock Market. Information and techniques of the Virtual Stock Market will be written below.

Icon Suffix to the right of my Capital Balance
Discussion Zone owns a custom plugin which enables users to earn a new icon depending on the user's Capital balance.

Examples below, hopefully you'll catch the drift:

Statistics Page

This page is very simple to explain. It displays statistics relating to the Capital system. For example, the richest users, recent donations and last lottery winners.

Richest users -> Users who own the most Capital on Discussion Zone.
Recent donations -> Users who have donated Capital to other users and the amount they donated.
Lottery Winners -> Lucky members who have won the lottery's jackpot of 250 Capital.

For any particular reason, you or other members may want to donate some Capital to another user. You may donate for various reasons such as: You're paying for goods the user is trading for Capital, you think this user has contributed a lot to Discussion Zone so you show him some love, or the user is your friend and you want to share some more love.

Lottery System
There isn't much to say about this system, the name says it all.

The lottery is more or less like the real-life lottery system. You purchase tickets, a ticket is randomly drawn at the end of the week, and if your ticket is drawn, you're given the prize of 250 Capital.

Tickets are bought for 10 Capital each. The prize (no matter what) will always be 250 Capital unless I change that amount myself. I have no plans to do so, though.

Virtual Stock Market

This is a very unique system of Discussion Zone's. Ever heard of stock markets in real-life? It's much and much the same but virtually, of course.

Some quick facts about the Virtual Stock Market:

• Prices of stocks/shares change every hour
  
• Minimum and maximum prices of the stocks of each company are set specifically by myself
  
• Company names and prices may be changed every month by myself
  
• Your goal in the stock market is to make as much profit as you can

How to get started in the Stock Market
If you're new to the forum, or just the general concept of a stock market, you're probably wondering how to get started? Well, first of, start posting. Post until you have at least 50 capital, then go to the Virtual Stock Market. Then look at the prices of the different stocks. You're going to mainly focus on the "Discussion Zone Ltd" Stocks.

Spoiler:

As you can see in the picture, it's currently at 13 capital per stock. You do not want to buy them when they are that high. The current minimum per DZ Ltd (Discussion Zone Ltd.) stock is 10 capital per stock. You should only buy them when they are at 10 capital per stock. After you've bought all the stocks you can afford for 10 capital, you wait for the price to raise to 13 capital and go to My Stocks.

Spoiler:

(Instead of "Cat and Kitten Rescue" stocks, you will have "Discussion Zone Ltd" stocks.
Then you sell all your stocks. Assuming you had 50 capital and bought 5 DZ Ltd. stocks, you have now made a profit of 15 capital. This might not seem like much, but this means you can buy an additional DZ Ltd. stock next time it goes down + you'll probably have posted a few posts in between, so you can buy even more.

Understood It perfectly well the first time but a helpful thread for other noobs who are unsure about this Capital system. It Is a great edition and I believe It may be a good step for Discussion Zone after the late downtimes.
