Quote:THE DEATH OF TURNS
You know how sometimes you sit there watching the history channel or some nice period movie set in the American Revolution, and you see the soldiers marching towards each other and firing their weapons in a straight line? Doesn’t that make you so frustrated, watching them fall over shot like “Oops, well there you go…”? No wonder ol’ George “No Real Teeth” Washington and company were able to win the war even though their army was totally hodgepodge! Like, they weren’t invented yet, sure, but when whatever genius it was first uttered the words “What if we just hide and play it smart?”, it probably made the biggest light bulb ever in the sky.
We literally had a four hour rally about this in the Chrono.gg lunchroom last week because of how single-minded we all were on the issue, and just this morning, as we switched over the site to put Cannon Brawl up for sale today, we were so excited that we high-fived until Stacy from janitorial got a blister and we realized a whole hour had gone by. That’s because in a world of stuffy old strategy games, Cannon Brawl is that same giant light bulb.
In the world of computer games, the language of large-scale combat has largely been as such: You take your turn to attack, and then they will take theirs, until one of you perishes. Quite simply, Cannon Brawl is worth the money today because it cleverly turns that idea on its ear by asking a very prudent question: “What if instead of taking turns, you deploy a giant invincible airship that’s responsible for constructing all of your defensive and offensive structures as quickly as humanly possible?” And they were right to ask, because not only did they survive, but, more selfishly, I had a lot of fun helping them through.
But you didn’t think that was gonna be what the question was.
