Canada to Ban Flipper Devices #1
It is likely Canada will be banning Flipper devices, as they have been used to steal cars (and other things).

One could argue they are the same as lockpicks, which are legal to possess and require malintent to misuse.

Stupid, the flipper zero hardware has been around for years maybe even decades but when you put it in a small device suddenly its dangerous

You don’t even need this specific device to do stuff, few alternatives anyways

The type of people who use Flipper devices will always get them, but it definitely slows noobs from getting hold of them in the first place and learning.

fact checker says that modern cars use rolling codes though. Does that mean they work upto a certain year?

To actually do anything with the flipper you would need costum firmware, such as Unleashed, as most frequencies, are region locked, so hack the device before hacking lol.
The point of it being banned is just nonsense, as for all the functions the flipper zero has, from RFID, NFC, Radio Hz (Ham Radio) and the IR sensor, the proper devices for all this have already been in use for years, even Hak5 has already been out there for years, however, the awareness it brings to normal people is a good part, but still, the ban in unreasonable.

In February 2024 the Canadian government announced plans to ban the sale of the Flipper Zero, mainly because of its reported use to steal cars.

The Flipper Zero is a portable device that can be used in penetration testing with a focus on wireless devices and access control systems.

If that doesn’t help you understand what it can do, a few examples from the news might help.
