King Charles III and his wife, Camilla will be coronated on Saturday, 6 May 2023. This is the first British coronation we will have seen since 1953, so for many, it will be a first in their lifetimes.
By extension, it will also be the first Queen Consort to be crowned since 1937! Queen Elizabeth II's husband, Prince Philip was never "King".
The coronation for Charles is expected to be vastly different from his mother's:
Much shorter, inclusive of multiple faiths (even though the Monarch is the Head of the Church of England and answerable only to God - weird), multiple cultures and communities.
It is expected to be more modest and there is talk that Charles may opt to allow the usually private ritual anointing to be made publicly visible via a transparent canopy.
