Britain Goes Coal Free #1
Due to the massive fall of demand in energy in Britain, our National Grid took the opportunity to shut down our final few coal-fired power plants.

There has been massive investment in alternative fuel sources in the UK, allowing the UK to now have the biggest offshore wind industry in the world, in addition to the largest single wind farm.

Read more on our energy industry changes here.

Hyrdo and Nuclear seem to be generating the largest share of energy at the moment.

What are your thoughts on the changes in the energy industries?

As long as It doesn't have a significant negative Impact on the environment, I believe It's a good move.

While I appreciate the compliments to my nation, I would like to point out this was not a Brexit initiative. It likely is a result of years of EU climate initiatives.

However, I believe we will be stronger alone in the long run. We're still in the transition period (behaving as if we're still in the EU until the end of the year).

I'm not sure how accurate that is. We've had nuclear power in Britain for a very long time. We actually used to rely on it more than we do now, with it only supplying 19% of our current power demand. However, they are going to open a lot more. I suspect those are going to replace the non-renewable sources like coal and natural gas, as those are slowly reduced/closed down. Perhaps it will go back up to the 26% it used to cover?

Correction, Fusion power. Biggrin And its coming soon too. Though not soon enough. All this is still simply a business opportunity. Its a good thing to rid the world of toxicity. Its just takes time and a culture whos supports change for the better. When companies hide the science and you keep buying cancer causing products,... there has be a line drawn somewhere. Ive built some of these plants, at least in the US. The energy humans hve to access is what makes or breaks its capabilty to evolve to higher complexities. Any species really... Its all about energy. The population of this planet is directly tied to our ability to use and convert energy. Take away the energy, you lose the population. Add technoinovation and production, well you can be potentially interstellar capable.
