What are the diffirences between botnet and RATs? Are they the same? Are RATs viral?

And what is the easiest way to monetize a botnet/RAT?

A botnet is a collection of compromised machines for the use of (Distributed) Denial of Service (DoS/DDoS) whereas a RAT (Remote Administration Tool) can do a lot more. It's a piece of Trojan software installed on a machine which allows the attacker full access to that machine. This includes, passwords, files and even viewing what you're doing and turning on your webcam.

That sounds like a "worm" virus. The "work" Trojan virus is a piece of software which is capable of accessing your instant messengers/social networks and/or emails to spread itself with friendly and luring messages like "Hey, is this a picture of you naked? :O http://linktovirus.com/trojan.exe"

A RAT is generally more targeted, but you can have a botnet using RATs.

Botnet describes the network.

RAT is a tool.

Rats have many fun funtions, but are unstable. Botnets (The good ones) are able to herd a lot of bots some up to 20 thousand. With 20 thousand slaves you can use a btc miner or ad replacer and be making a nice living of 100k+ a year. A rat can hold generally up to 1k.
