RE: Bias Gun Control Article (No TL;DR) #21
This thread is really interesting. Prior to learning anything about guns, my opinion of them was that they're scary. Primarily, this was the same way a knife is but less so as it's a potentially quicker death if you were to be shot. My Dad, somewhat illegally, owns a rifle. I never thought it was dangerous and never thought guns should be banned, even before knowing what I know now (which isn't a huge amount but you get the point).

Those stats, although stated from a certain angle, aren't distorting the truth of UK crime. I love the UK but it can be a dangerous place. I don't feel unsafe where I live but that's an area based thing more than a general UK thing. Our police forces aren't very well resourced. Not that they're bad at their jobs, they just don't get as many staff and funds as they should. Therefore, it's potentially more challenging for UK police. I believe in self defense and although guns are still something almost alien to me, I agree with the idea of people owning guns. Part of me wishes that the UK would allow them. Although, that will never ever happen as it's the UK.

The point about education is true in my opinion. Education is crucial in so many ways. I respect Oni and the way he thinks about guns. Although I may never carry a handgun myself, I would feel safe with Oni if he was.
