how much was it when you bought it retail you'd think?

I honestly don't remember - It was over 30 years ago.

Also 20 mins of battery life is really good, my dads laptop battery is dead and it's a laptop from 2013, the 2006 one somehow has a working battery still lasting an hour or 2. but it has a gpu error where the whole screen turns green after turning it on for about 3 mins, wonder if that's fixable lol.

Are you sure It's a GPU Issue and not the screen Itself playing up?

Yeah, i disabled the GPU drivers, error didn't happen but of course laptop overheated because it's pretty old and reaches temps of 95 degrees whilst using chrome.

Well It's certainly your GPU causing the Issue.

Upgrading from an HDD to an NVMe SSD was like a breath of fresh air. Going from around 1 minute to boot into Windows, down to just under 10 seconds was astonishing.

HDDs are still useful for things like media storage and infrequent backups though. And until the price of flash memory comes down, HDDs will stay relevant.

I've purchased enclosures and use my HDDs as external drives to store backups.

You're welcome.

Enclosures cost next to nothing, so you may as well make use of your HDDs by running them as externals.

I'm so stupid, i used to use a 1TB HDD with max w/r speeds of 30Mb. i always thought it was my gpu/cpu that was mid tiered as to why it took about 2 minutes to open Opera GX.. and about 5 minutes for the computer to turn on. One day i thought to myself, why not get an SSD? and believe me it was the best upgrade ever bro, now my pc turns on in about 10 seconds, opera opens in under a second, if you guys have an HDD make sure to upgrade to SSD! I'm still on 8gb ram tho... hoping to make that 32 soon!

The best cheap upgrade you could have done. For around 30$ you can get a 500gb ssd

When I bought some of the earlier SSDs, had the same revelation. The prices/speeds have improved greatly since then. It's no exaggeration to say you can affordably obtain an M2 SSD with 100x the read/write speed you have now. For example, you could buy a 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus (read/write of ~3500Mb/s) for just $60. Those speeds and capacities used to cost exponentially more.
