you can shell it and then extract the ip in vb!! Biggrin

This is brilliant. As an amateur, this is a perfect way to learn. If you have the time, could you, or someone, possibly list some steps on doing more with this code.

Reluctantly, I must admit that I don't know what it means to shell something. The only thing I can think of is running the code off the cmd line or the shell in Linux. That I might be able to do..... Any input?

For now, it can be used as a quick way to get all the information possible about a server/ip just by entering domain. (whois)

well, thanks but i meant this in Windows OS not linux Smile

i can use the Shell( ,appwinstyle.hide) command to get the user's IP without connecting to internet, filter extra info of it and grab the IP Biggrin

nice but is is a low level, i use in this code "ipconfig /all >ip.txt"

... ipconfig gives you the internal ip, whatsmyip gives you the public ip.. could be a huge difference when behind a router
