I was wondering: should I get backtrack 5 or not?
It has many good tools which makes it easier to do things... :ok:

I'm running Backtrack 5 R2, and It's simply awesome.
It has quite a few tools defaulted, hence makes It a pleasure to use. Try It on a VM first, and see how you go.
You won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the reply. Why don't I use a USB boot?

You're welcome.
When you use Backtrack as a live boot, there's a few features not Installed, (can't use the apt-get function), hence you won't get the real feel of It's full potential.
I'd rather Install the O/S, and explore It, but that's just me.

I'm also interested in using backtrack r5. I've download two versions; 32-bit for my laptop and 64-bit for desktop. I plan on using the live session and experimenting before I install it under a dual-boot setup. My question is, for WEP hacking isn't the booting into the live session enough?

Wait, so you just download live USB, install it or whatever, and it's good to go? All right, let's do this!

I personally prefer the tools to be there already on hand.
Irrespective whether you Install them or they're there by default, the functionality of a given tool, Is still the same.
