Anyone pre-order Magic the Gathering 2014? #1
Hi I have always been into strategy games and thought this game looked really nice especially for $10. I dont even mind paying $1 for booster packs and such as it makes the game more realistic. I have never played MTG before so it may have quite the learning curve but there is a first for everything. WHat are your thoughts on this or did you play MTG 2013 and have any advice for a new player?

Personally I suggest you start with the pen and paper TCG because of how great it is to learn new things about the game every single day. That and inviting your friends to buy some intro packs or toolkits and teaching them how to play. I always found that enjoyable.

Unless you truly prefer a virtual model over the real thing go with m14. If you really want to play the game and have the same experience as playing pen and paper but online instead, grab Magic Online for $10. Same cost for boosters, fat packs and everything as your local card shop or Wal-Mart. Except for virtual cards. In a game. Great thing about Magic Online I hear is if you retire you get your cards sent to you for free. That's a relief.

If you don't want to wait so long to learn to play the game and share the experience with friends and just want to jump straight into it I suggest Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013. For the same price of $10 it's a great way to start learning to play the game.

Whatever way you start, MTG is an exceptional trading card game. Worthy of its title for top TCG by an audience of 12 million plus.

As additional information of this game, it has many game modes. Not just 1 versus 1 duels. You don't have to just buy cards to play. You can buy to collect. You can buy to sell later in the future and trust me you could make some good cash. You can buy to be a serious player, trade and win Grand Prix's, compete in Pro Tours, etc. Some people even bought cards just to admire the gorgeous artwork.

To get you started with the anatomy of a 15-card booster pack, from front to back is as follows:
10 commons
3 uncommons
1 rare OR mythic rare
1 token or ad card
and possibly a foil card of any rarity

(Only to save you from a bit of confusion).

I'm sure you'll have fun with Magic: the Gathering especially if you love strategy.
