Anyone know much about those Walmart burner phones? 03-13-2017, 11:25 PM

I've did some googling, but couldn't find anything too specific. I know walmart, kroger, etc sell those prepaid phones for like $20 or less, some even say free on them. Can I just walk into the store and get 4-5 of them and maybe $5 in prepaid cards for each and be good to go? Or is there some sort of catch/contract with them? I'm trying to get some new numbers that aren't VoIP so I can create some yahoo accounts. Yahoo requires a phone number for account creation, and I've used my personal one too many times. I'm hoping for a cheap way to get some throwaway numbers.
I've tried many free phone services, but they're all VoIP which Yahoo doesn't allow. If anyone might know of an alternative, please inform me. Otherwise, I'll go grab some burners and go from there. I've just been on a contract with Sprint forever so I don't know much about these other carriers and how they work. Idk, I just feel like there's a catch to them handing out phones for free. I just want to have an idea of what I'm getting into before I go in there (although it's walmart, I'm sure they've seen worse). Any help is greatly appreciated
