Anyone here experiencing shortages of any kind? 10-08-2021, 02:33 AM
#1
I've been reading a lot online about several companies not getting their supplies and having constant shortages for certain things. Down to car parts, plastic containers, etc. My work has a cup shortage until further notice.
Is there anyone else experiencing a shortage from wherever you're at? I hope this isn't forever.

Only certain types of food.
We've been In lockdown for 2 months, hence It's all due to consumers panic buying, thereby suppliers cannot keep up with demands.

That mostly makes sense. We haven't experienced panic buying since peak covid last year (at least in houston) What sorts of food? Canned foods and such?

Certain types of wood seem to skyrocket in prices the last few months. Not really a shortage i would say, but most certainly longer delivery times and harder to find

Yeah when I was working as a safety advisor for a college construction job I heard lumber and certain materials were becoming scarce. And when we would order things like generators or valves we had a few month waiting period.

Just as a matter of Interest, why might that be?
It's the first I've heard of wood shortages/delays during the pandemic.
It has to do with the insane housing market right now, as well as the labor shortage. Everyone is panic selling and buying with the rumors of big government overreach in blue states, and coming to red ones like Texas.

Semiconductors are experiencing a shortage right now. UK was also having problems getting gasoline for a short period.

My Dad works in fabrication. He told me yesterday that a spool of copper wire doubled from about $100 to $210. And things are not looking so hot in other areas either.
