I read on Malwarebytes site that they claim they can run alone, without need for a proper, traditional, signature-based antivirus. Is anyone here running Anti-Malware alone without Anti-Virus? How is your experience so far, if any?

I'm actually running Malwarebytes without an AV on several systems. It serves Its purpose In protecting my PCs extremely well.

Of course, It's the Premium version- Web protection, Exploit protection, Malware & Ransomware protection all active.
