I think award systems are a factor that makes alot more people want to join the site as they can try and rack up alot of awards, as well as it could make some funding money for the site (for hosting, advertisement and what-not).

E.G, donate $10 and you get a 'Donator' award, donate $20 and you get 'Master Donator' award, and donate $30 and you get 'Diamond Donator'.

Of course not all awards should be money-based and here are a few examples that I've thought of just now. Also included some default award pics I found online.

GFX'er - only awarded to the best graphic creators. [Image: palette1.png]

Gamer - only hardcore gamers can receive this award. [Image: hardcoregamer.png]

Trusted - awarded to those with at least 50 rep. [Image: trusted.png]

Refferer - only awarded to those who have referred 5+ members. [Image: 1308242346_list-add-user.png]

Elite - only awarded to members who are in the elite group. [Image: awsome.png]

eWhore Master - only awarded to the best eWhores! [Image: ewhore.png]

SE'er - only awarded to those experienced at SE'ing. [Image: pot-of-gold_24.png]

RATTER - only awarded to the best ratters. [Image: Grim.png]

Spell Check - uses correct grammar / spelling most of the time. Good to get our posts looking HQ and professional. [Image: 1305396640_spellcheck.png]

MOTM - Member of the month award which has to be voted on (you cannot vote yourself, obviously) seen this somewhere else and it worked great to get referrals in / posts / threads and general activeness around the forum. [Image: mom.png]

I could think of many more if this idea was going to be considered.

I agree, this one is a great suggestion.
A lot of people like to show off rewards and will do anything it takes ( meaning they will be more and more active until they achieve this reward ).

An award system is a very cool idea. At least we'll have something just for bragging rights.

Yeah very nice suggestion, I like it. Will be good if this could be implemented, Perhaps not every reward now though as we don't have many members yet. Maybe just the Trusted and SE ones for now, and then when more people join with different abilities (no not superhero powers) we can add in the extra stuff.
