If you think you are going insane, you most likely are not going insane. I remember thinking the same when I had a terrible period of chronic insomnia (lasted months, with only two to three hours of sleep a night). I began waking up at places I had no idea how I got there. I was seeing things - but it was controllable, therefore, I was not, at least within legal realms, insane. Insanity is where you can no longer functionally interpret reality as to how it is; therefore, you could not possibly know if you were insane.

It is also extremely unlikely that you are going through a psychotic episode of some sort since you don't seem to have any delusions or forms of hallucinations.

Go to the doctor. He'll give you an answer.

Insanity is a normal phase that everyone will encounter at some point in their life. It's nothing more than your mind telling you to grow. The mind is programed to never stop thinking/learning/growing. Insanity is when you stop moving forward and instead continuously turn in circles. Depression, complacency, depersonalization, anxiety are merely symptoms of insanity. You can only defeat insanity by learning to understand it. Everyone has to find their own understanding of insanity. Start by changing small things in your life. Try getting up at dawn and just watching the sun rise and then go for a run. Try to absorb nature, people and things you normally don't acknowledge or take for granted. Try going to different/random places, even if it makes you uncomfortable. Try new foods or get involved with an organization/religion/community. I think you get my point... I believe insanity is a warning. Your mind is telling you to slap yourself in the face and wake up. I hope my words lead you in the right direction. My theories/beliefs are based from my own experiences. I say that because you must endure all things in life to defeat them. Insanity is natural and you will prevail.

Your definition of insanity is incorrect. You are referring to a scientist's opinion of what insanity defines as. Insanity is where you can no longer interpret reality and you fail to understand what is real.

For all we fucking know, OP might be having an onset of a serious illness. I doubt it, but it could be the answer.
