Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the congresswoman, played the Among Us game live on Twitch, and was watched by over 400,000 viewers. She was accused of electioneering as she used to the platform to encourage people to go out and vote, while playing the very popular game. Her stream lasted approximately 3.5 hours and was far more successful than any other politician on the platform. It is speculated that it would be difficult for other politicians to use the platform as successfully to reach out to Gen Z. Overall, the reception has been mostly positive, with it being viewed as a good way to engage with millennials.

Nicky Danino, a principal lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Central Lancashire, advised that it's unlikely that she swayed anyone's voting choices, especially as the group she reached out to are the least likely to vote, and are unlikely to change their minds. Though, it is difficult to know for sure. Additionally, Jon Tonge, a professor of politics at the University of Liverpool, advised that this may be "connecting young people to a politician, not necessarily politics".
