AI Is the New Photoshop

Photoshop changed image editing by letting anyone manipulate pictures without needing a darkroom.

AI is taking it to another level.

Instead of spending hours editing, you can just tell AI what you want. Remove something, change the background, fix a photo, create a new image, or completely change the style.

Photoshop gave us control over the image. AI gives us control over the idea. Sometimes a picture you take could have simple imperfections or a screenshot may be shotty, but apps like ChatGPT could easily mend those images. Even Stitch could merge multiple screenshots into a singular screenshot using overlapping frames and ai.

The graphic design industry is one of the most affected industries regarding AI advancement.

You can also have AI take control of your photoshop application and use the tools within photoshop for you.

Personally I hate Adobe, I hope at some point AI consumes this company and it gets sold off. The history behind Adobe is not good.

I mean I'm sure generative AI is restricting the growth of the creative suite.

I see AI used more often in advertising posters/flyers more than anything, especially food places. Though the shitty stock pictures that were printed before the 2000s weren't the best either.

Also my generation was basically the last one that bothered tinkering a bit, especially with stuff like after effects and hybrid. The AMV community in 2018 was basically full of kids being super talented at after effects. A lot of them now work for studios and stuff.

I don't think that'll continue to exist, also because after effects's casual userbase just shifted to Capcut and stuff like that.

You're kinda just replacing an evil we know with a new one we don't know much about. Adobe sucks but AI imo sucks even more

The sad part is that the bar for entry level positions will rise. More talent will be required to get hired, since anyone can do basic marketing/programming with AI now.

I am not sure where people will develop marketable skills, outside of making it a hobby in their free time. My experience, the best place to learn is while working.

AI should only be used as a tool, not a crutch. Being able to remove things from the background quickly and easily is definitely useful on its own. But prompting ChatGPT or other models for editing whole images entirely will just output slop.

It's a vicious cycle. The thing is especially young people now-days are not motivated/inclined to try hobbies or just work on their creativity.
I also learned the most from having a job, though just socializing helps a lot. Online forums and platforms have helped me more early on.

Unfortunately i see this issue being also somewhat political. In europe, but especially on the western side, people benefit more from being on wellfare rather than actually working.
