Because there is no dedicated, live dashboard of things happening on the forums, this is what I do to stay on top of things.

1. Load Sinister.ly
2. Scroll down to Forum stats
3. Right click, inspect element, go to Console
Paste this in:

setInterval(function() { prostats_reload(); }, 10000);

This will reload the stats section automagically every 10 seconds. Just a tip!
