Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) president and CEO Jim Ryan has said that, "despite the release of the Playstation 4 by the end of 2013, there are still 'highly significant' PS3 games that are yet to be announced".
Ryan was on the PS blog discussing the transition of the console, he said "Typically history can help us only so far here. We're actually still selling PS2s in regions such as the Middle East seven years after we introduced PS3. There are a number of reasons why the transition might be a bit more accelerated this time round, but PS3 is a very important part of our portfolio, certainly in 2013, 2014 and probably beyond that."
He pointed out some content that will be released by the end of the year on the PS3 like 'TheLast of Us', 'Beyond' and 'God of War: Ascension' which is being released later this month. Ubisoft also officially announced Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag for current-gen systems on Thursday, following numerous leaks in recent weeks.
Michael Denny (Senior-Vice president of SCEE) recently cited that Gran Turismo 6, which is yet to be formally announced as an upcoming PS3 title despite the arrival of the PS4.
What do you guys think of this? Personally, I like this as not everybody will have the financial capabilities when the Playstation 4 comes out first to purchase it. Even though some people will buy Playstation 4 on release day these games will keep people coming back to the PS3 as the Playstation 4 is not backwards compatible with current PS3 titles.
