Currently making my jump to linux :) - millionandbell - 10-08-2016

I'm in the process of defragging my hard drive and partitioning it to dual boot Debian, its going to be my first Linux experience, i've procrastinated this for a long time Smile I'm nervous and excited at the same time :')

Good stuff, a lot of people generally skip the backup part because it takes too long for them, but its worth it in the end

i regret not backing up my windows 7 when i made the jump to windows 10, i got my windows 7 from dreamspark and i tried to jump back to windows 7 after about 2 months of using win 10 and of course i ran into problems getting windows 7 back so i'm trying to get my Key reactivated from them if that makes sense.

you already jumped to debian which is whatever - although i think that manjaro and ubuntu are better for beginners.

I was going to go to Ubuntu, but i wanted to go with something that wasn't too bloated and i feel like Ubuntu had a lot of preinstalled stuff which maybe good to some people, but not me.

its mainly just the default flavor's DE. unity is a piece of shit, xubuntu or kubuntu would suit you better.

I'll defiantly look into them Smile

Given It's going to be your first Introduction Into the Linux platform, you can always Install It on a VM and go from there.

Who knows, Linux may not be for you and at least on a VM, you can simply delete the VHD without touching the Host/Physical system.
