ReactOS - Pirate - 06-05-2016 Someone posted this in a Steam Group chat I am in, it basically seems like a more shitty Version of Windows, graphics on fleek though let me tell ya. https://www.reactos.org/ RE: ReactOS - zorrophreak - 06-05-2016 The premise of ReactOS is to provide Windows executable support in an open source (i believe bsd environment). And yes I can agree, its not good at all. My friend used to love it, I couldn't ever get it to boot. I have not tried this OS, but from the Group chat I hear its a Piece of shit RE: ReactOS - Dozy Van - 06-05-2016 (06-05-2016, 12:40 PM)Pirate Wrote: I have not tried this OS, but from the Group chat I hear its a Piece of shit Pretty much, Its development started in 1996 and I think development even stopped for a year or two. And in 10 years its on version 0.4.1? or something like that. I have had high hopes for years for it but its not moving.... RE: ReactOS - typhoid - 06-05-2016 ReactOS is great its just not finished or production ready. if you cant get it to run your hardwares not compatible or you dont know what your doing They've come a long way since they started and updates get faster with every one. last update was 3 months after the previous one, just a couple weeks ago. its not easy what they are doing and theres only a hundred or so people that have worked on it and not all at the same time so of course its going to take them a while. microsoft on the other hand had thousands of people working on windows. RE: ReactOS - zorrophreak - 06-05-2016 typhoid Wrote:your hardwares not compatible I can tell its not compatible its just kinda sad it doesn't even get past the bootup screen without crashing on an early 2000s Dell. Actually, now that I say that it doesn't surprise me that much. RE: ReactOS - insidious - 06-05-2016 Don't get the appeal to this OS. It looks just like running those programs under WINE would, so why not just install the Linux Distro of your choice, w/ Wine and get to it? Who uses Adobe Photoshop CS2 anymore and why would they even have a screenshot of that 'showing off' their OS? meh. If I recall, I'm pretty sure CS2 is the one Creative Suite that Adobe made into freeware as of a few years ago. So it's got some use among those who want to use Adobe, but are too broke to afford it and too morally strict to obtain it through other means. I know one or two people using it still. ... that said it hasn't aged all that hot so i'm not really sure why they'd showcase it, either. ᵗᵒ ᵇᵉ ʰᵒᶰᵉˢᵗ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᶫᵒᵒᵏˢ ᶫᶦᵏᵉ ʰᶦᵖˢᵗᵉʳ'ˢ ʷᶦᶰᵈᵒʷˢ RE: ReactOS - insidious - 06-06-2016 Blacksmith Wrote:... that said it hasn't aged all that hot so i'm not really sure why they'd showcase it, either. Yeah, kind of looks like something I'd see in some retro windows /g/ rice thread |
