[Help] Windows 10 to Windows 7 - CPU - 10-17-2015

My computer came with Windows 8.1 from the manufacturer. I upgraded to Windows 10, and now I can no longer go back to Windows 8.1. However, I never liked Windows 8.1 (and regret upgrading to Windows 10), and am wondering: How can I delete all of Windows 10, and install a fresh, new Windows 7 (particularly for free)? A detailed, yet friendly guide would be appreciated, and an activation key would be a bonus. Thank-you.

Well, to summarize it you would just torrent a high-seed and approved version of Windows 7 Ultimate, put it on a USB and boot into that through the bios on your laptop then go through the installation process. But why exactly do you want to downgrade? All of the telemetry stuff can be disabled through third party hacks, the OS is extremely customization through (again) third party hacks 100% safely, and its just faster and more secure in general. The only reason anyone would still be on Windows 7 is if they really need to change the font used in things like Windows Explorer and are willing to sacrifice security and speed just for that feature.

Edit: Here is a decent torrent and its all pre-activated so all you need to do it boot into the USB

Thank-you. Hopefully it isn't malicious in any ways. I want to downgrade because I don't like Windows 10 nor Windows 8/8.1 for various reasons.

RE: [Help] Windows 10 to Windows 7 - mothered - 10-18-2015

A clean Installation Is the way to go.

Just make sure what's enabled In the Motherboard firmware. If It's UEFI-enabled and given the HDD Is of GPT partition style, you may need to disable Secure Boot and Fast Boot (If supported). You will then need to created a UEFI bootable flash drive. Furthermore, If you have a UEFI Firmware that's below "v2.0", you'll have Issues Installing Windows 7.

Alternatively, you can enable "Legacy Mode" In the Motherboard firmware/BIOS, convert the GPT to MBR partition style, and simply go through the normal Installation process of the OS.

I downgraded yesterday. It was easy. Get the W7 and the architecture of your choice and burn it onto your USB. Then boot into your BIOS and boot into the installation window. And then format your drive(s) you want W7 to be installed on and install.

Otherwise for what Mothered said about GPT, that can easily be fixed in Diskpart (Shift + F10) on installation window.

Yes, very good point about Diskpart.

If need be, I'm sure @"Centizen" can help with converting GPT to MBR. If not, just let me know and I shall guide you through with all the commands.

Rufus Is Indeed a great tool, I've used It many times without fail.

So too Is WinToFlash & Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool- both of which allow the Installation of Windows with ease. The latter (despite It's name denoting "Windows 7"), Is also compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 10.
